In 2005, Idaho eighth graders had a reading average scale score (264) that was higher than the nation (260). In 2005, Idaho fourth and eighth graders both scored higher than the nation on the reading subscales. Percent At or Above Basic (NAEP Basic is like ISAT Proficient) In 2005, 69 percent of Idaho fourth graders scored at or above Basic in reading, which was higher than the nation (62 percent). In 2005, 76 percent of Idaho eighth graders scored at or above Basic in reading, which was higher than the nation (71 percent).
